During the initial monitoring period (Nov 19–26), the average price of CeraVe products on Amazon remained relatively stable between $33.5 and $35. 

A notable dip occurs starting November 27, reaching the lowest point of $27.7 on December 1. The drop in average price between November 27 and December 1 coincides with a major shopping event, Cyber Monday, on November 27, 2024. Retailers offer discounts during this period to attract customers, resulting in a lower average price for products.

However, it is worth noting that the average price did not change much on Black Friday, November 24, 2024. 

After December 1, the price recovers significantly, peaking at $34.1 on December 3 before settling at $32.9 on December 4.

Now, let’s look at the average price trends of CeraVe products at Walmart during the same period.

Walmart has a lower average price for CeraVe products than Amazon. During the initial analysis period of November 19-26, the average price remained relatively stable between $24.3 and $24.4. 

The average price drops from $24.3 on November 26 to $24.1 by November 27 and further to $24.0 on November 30. The dip in average prices around November 27–30 aligns with Cyber Monday. Walmart likely reduced prices to remain competitive during this high-demand period.

Prices increased slightly after November 30, reaching $24.4 by December 3, followed by a slight decrease to $24.1 on December 4.

While the average price for CeraVe remains less than $35 on both Amazon and Walmart, they also offer expensive skincare products. Let’s examine the expensive CeraVe products on Amazon and Walmart.

Similar to Amazon, the expensive CeraVe products at Walmart are driven by bulk packaging, product size, and the use of specialized, high-quality ingredients.

  • The most expensive product is Moisturizing Cream 12 oz (Pack of 6) at $116.4.
  • The second-highest is Hydrating Facial Cleanser 16 oz (Pack of 6) at $100.9.
  • The third and fourth are Daily Moisturizing Lotion, 8 oz (Pack of 6), and Hydrating Facial Cleanser, 8 oz (Pack of 6), both close to $89.

Many of the top-priced items are sold in packs of 6, leading to higher total costs. On the other hand, products like Skin Renewing Night Cream and Healing Ointments are formulated for specific skin conditions, which increases their manufacturing and research costs.

Body Lotions for Dry Skin has 20 products and maintains a high rating of 4.5, indicating popularity and effectiveness for hydration.

Walmart also caters to a niche category of psoriasis products with 16 items and a 4.5 average rating, suggesting that these specialized products are meeting customer needs. 

Lotions lead with the highest average rating of 4.7 on Walmart. 

Based on this study, we have found that Amazon offers broader variety and consistency in ratings across categories, appealing to customers looking for a diverse range of products. Walmart focuses more on dry skin solutions and niche products like psoriasis treatments, making it ideal for customers with specific skincare needs.
